Indie Lens Pop-Up is Wednesday

TWIN FALLS — The Magic Valley Arts Council, Idaho Humanities Council and Independent Television Service will host the Indie Lens Pop-Up free screening of "The Providers" at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Sligar Auditorium of the Twin Falls Center for the Arts, 195 River Vista Place. Run-time is about 55 minutes.

Last week I photographed back-to-back College of Southern Idaho basketball games. For anyone who has shot the same sport often, you can understand how tedious it can become. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll always choose a sporting event over most assignments because they are fun to cover, but several months of the same sport and you get a little worn out.

Ketchum celebrates Warren Miller

KETCHUM — The community is invited to celebrate the original ski-film icon, Warren Miller, at a tribute party Thursday on Main Street — between Sun Valley Road and Second Street. The celebration will kick off the seventh annual Sun Valley Film Festival.

TWIN FALLS — Movie-goers in Twin Falls will have a different kind of experience once the Magic Valley Cinema 13 finishes a major upgrade and addition — as early as this year.

2017 Oscar-nominated short films screened on four evenings

KETCHUM — The Sun Valley Center for the Arts will screen the 2017 short films nominated for Academy Awards at 7 p.m. Feb. 21, 22, 28 and March 1 at Magic Lantern Cinemas, 100 Second St., Ketchum. A short film is defined by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as an original motion picture with a running time of 40 minutes or less.

Herrett Center features ‘Legacy in Stone’

TWIN FALLS — The Herrett Center will host the public premiere of "Legacy In Stone: Discovering Ancient Flint-knapping in Idaho." Doors will be open at 6:30 p.m. with the movie showing at 7 p.m. Nov. 29 in the Faulkner Planetarium, North College Road, Twin Falls. Seating is limited to 144 individuals.
